Updates –
501 (c) (3):  There was a conference call with TACS on 7/14/09 (today).  Great information from them.  It seems out of reach right now for Horizons to take on the fiscal sponsorship piece without some paid staff.

Hanna has been talking with Lynn Hoffmann at the Idaho Nonprofit Center.  Some alternatives right now seem to be working with regional economic councils (Clearwater RC&D – Region II or Sage out of the Boise area).  Lynn will talk to CRC&D to see if they are willing to take this on.  If not, Sage is ready to do this.  Sage has a fee system.  Lynn will let Hanna know and then the Steering Committee and Action Teams can decide how to move forward.

Hanna reported that she and her family are moving to Emmett for a job that is closer to family.  Hanna requested that someone else step in and fill her role with Camas Prairie Horizons or Cottonwood will likely go its own way.  No one on the Steering Committee volunteered.  Cathy Wassmuth has someone in mind and will approach that person.  Deanna will also talk to some people to gauge their interest.  If no one steps up, the regional focus of CPH will be lost.

Welcome Party:  Planned for August 16.  Some groups are showing interest in participating but more would be beneficial.  Mary will help with advertising.  The City Council has been notified.  The Chamber has been approached.  Deanna will help get the word out.

Rails to Trails:  Continuing work on this.  Lee Spencer is chairing a committee that has formed.  Deanna has requested a written agreement from the owner of the rail bed detailing price and length of time.  Proposed trail is from the Senior Center in Grangeville to Cottonwood Elevators (18 miles).  Group is gathering data and information to support grant proposals.  If anyone has ideas about grant sources, get them to Deanna.

Additional Items –
Evergreen Food Bank is renting a building and have applied for state incorporation and 501 (c) (3) status and is requesting assistance from Horizons to pay the IRS fee and possibly with some funds for rent.  After discussion, the Steering Committee agreed to pay for the IRS fee and allocate some reserve rent funds that could be accessed in an emergency.

Hanna still has the $750 check that Camas Prairie Horizons thought they would use.  She will return it to Lisa.  The group agreed to reimburse Cottonwood Horizons half of the Bright Stars consulting fee ($350) since Grangeville Horizons won’t be paying the IRS fee.  Lisa will get an invoice from them for payment.  (Note – This has been paid).
