In 2007, Grangeville become one of 14 rural north Idaho communities to participate in the HORIZONS project, a community leadership program aimed at reducing poverty in small towns in an eight state region. The program was funded by the Northwest Area Foundation (www.nwaf.org) and University of Idaho Extension delivered the program with the assistance of individual community coaches.
